Fighting Pacifist procession tramples Ragin' Roosters
Northwestsoutheastern completed the 2025 season with 15 straight wins, the most impressive one to top it off. They reclaimed part of the record for championships as quickly as possible, claiming their 8th a year after Puke set that as the new record. As dominant as they were in the regular season, they were even more impressive in the tournament, where they gave as impressive a sweep as there has ever been. Their championship performance was the second greatest ever, in both points scored and point spread, behind only Kootsville Tech's 66-7 win over Brimsone in 2017.
Birddrops Aeronautics School, who returned to the championship game for a second straight season, matched up to the Fighting Pacifists, at least on paper, and for three quarters of their regular-season meeting. The Ragin' Roosters had a span of two possessions across the 1st and 2nd quarters where they caught up and looked to make a game of it. But they couldn't keep up, as Northwestsoutheastern rolled on from there, scoring on all but three possessions.
Once again, the Fighting Pacifists did whatever they wanted on offense. Their consistency in the playoff games has been remarkable, considering it was supposed to be against the best competition: nearly 300 yards passing, 295 for Demetrius Award winning QB Jan Fest; 93 yards rushing for RB Dustin DeBrie, who also had a rushing TD and a 25-yard TD receiving; and if two receivers didn't have 100+ yards this time, it was because they each had 99, TE Tad Harsh on 6 catches, and WR Pluto Perfect on 10 with a TD. WR Felipe Coyne had 7 catches for 60 yards and 2 TDs.
The Ragin' Roosters showed flashes of their own high-powered offense. Freshman QB Lofton Bomz surprised everyone when he nearly won the Demetrius Award, tying Fest for points in the final tally (the tiebreaker is place in the final poll, where Fest was first), and WR Quincy Dentz, rated 2nd behind Perfect among receivers in the incoming class, declared for Nwse but switched to Birddrops when they landed Bomz.
After the Pacifists scored on their first two drives, Bomz hooked up with Dentz for a 45-yard pass play to the Nwse 28-yard line. The Bomz hit TE Felipe Lidd twice for 11 yards, then 17 yards for the score. [14-7] Then the Birddrops got a three-and-out, the only one for the Pacifists in the game. The next drive started with a 32-yard pass to RB Comodius Chesterfied. The drive stalled out and the Roosters settled for a 43 field goal from K Visal Durispekt, but they were in the game. [14-10] In the 3rd quarter, there was a 43-yard pass play to Lidd, but Birddrops failed to get a first down after that and punted.
Nwse scored again after the Roosters made their FG, chopping up the field in big chunk plays. DeBrie had runs of 12 and 21 yards, and Fest scored himself on a 10-yard run that was hard to tell whether it was a called run or ad-libbed. [21-10] The received the 2nd half kickoff and went 80 yards to a TD, the big play a 48-yard pass to Harsh. The Pacifists had a long drive that stalled at the Birddrops 39 and missed on a 56-yards FG attempt. Then after forcing a three-and-out, Perfect returned the punt 45 yards but then fumbled. Two plays later, Birddrops RB Len Dartz busted open and went 19 yards, but then also fumbled.
The Pacifists then scored three more times in the 4th quarter, all on the same blitzkrieg drives. Coyne had 2 of the TDs on pass plays of 7 and 2 yards, and the capper was the 25-yard pass to DeBrie. In the regular season meeting, Birddrops played tough defense for three quarters, then was overwhelmed in the 4th. The Pacifists have been the most merciless with their 4th quarter play. As superior as their talent is, they've also outlasted opponents so they're even better at the end of the game.
