Stranglers Put Off PeopleIt wasn't easy for Boston, but quarterback Sebastian Ophuls, the East's leading passer, proved just enough of a difference, along with, less likely, kicker Felonius A. Salt. Peoria held down the Strangler offense and outrushed them, but Salt's 3/4 field goals, 29.25 average, long 47, kept the Stranglers ahead until Ophuls hit tight end Marky DeSade on a 23-yard pass play for the pull-away touchdown late late in the fourth quarter. Ophuls passed for just 182 yards, but both of Boston's touchdowns, and his 45 yards led the Stranglers in rushing. Peoria running back Laurent Housing led all rushers with 55 yards, and quarterback Harry Beaver completed only 16 of 44 passes for 163 yards and was intercepted once. The duel between marquis receivers Luke St. Everything of Boston and Ray Pist of Peoria was also defensive, the former with just 3 catches for 30 yards, the latter 4 for 38. Boston's win means they get to host a conference semi-final against the New Jersies. |

Types Deflect BulletsDodge not only blew their division championship, but landed in the wrong playoff match-up, as Boulder reaffirmed their regular season result. The Types, playing at home also by virtue of that win, scored three times in the first half and never looked back. Though they withstood a comeback, Dodge didn't pull within one score till the final play of the game. The Bullet running duo of Evelyn Olivus and Hugo Faq-Yusef, first and second in the league in rushing, were dominant, rookie sensation Olivus adding 87 yards to Faq-Yusef's 113, and Dodge WR Nestor Viper even had 72 yards and a TD receiving. But quarterback Pierre Pressure and the Types found the end zone more often, with Pressure's running, 79 yards and a TD, thwarting the Type pass defense. Pressure threw for 187 yards and 2 TDs, 74 yards and a TD going to Everett Auerhaus, who lead all receivers in the game. Boulder's reward is a rematch with their division champ Casper, who routed them 49-17 on May 8. |
